What a concert!*
Beethoven: Piano Concerto No. 4 in G major, Berlioz:
Bavaria: Radio Symphony Orchestra
Mariss Jansons: the baton.
I missed it all. Through unadulterated and inimitable idiocy. (Idiot).
PS Nigel Kennedy (Prom 34**) let me down big way. I like the man, I like the way he plays, but his futile efforts to put together in an original way a concert-ful of old and new stuff just show that it takes all sorts of talents to stage a show. He’s a brilliant violinist, but not a composer, nor an orchestrator and the band he brought along had nothing to do half of the time. All in all, they didn't produce enough music, which is not good enough, especially for the Proms.
*it must have been. (Bloody idiot).
**no, I don't normally refer to them like that, but in this case I like the orderly feel of the numbers (well, which is only to be expected from them) reminding us of a scientific (may sound like an exaggeration, but numbers are, aren't they?) aspect of music.
