Morality is about contact; it's a bonding exercise, it's an effort to hug - once you've hugged a tree, you're not likely to hurt it (unnecessarily).
Contact is primary, rules are secondary. Rules result from contact: once you've touched someone, you immediately know what's moral and what's not.
(I don't know how it works with women, but men will immediately know what I'm talking about: once you've made a bodily contact a woman, the whole of the relevant morality pops up in no time and stands right next to you telling you what to do and what not to do, just as if her parents were whispering good advice into the ear of their prospective son-in-law; priceless).
