Swapping partners?

My oh my! Have we seen a revolution like this since 1756?? France ready to fight alongside the United States* and Britain sceptically looking on? I’d never thought I’d live long enough to see this.

P.S. There’s talk of ‘letting’ the local Parliament have a rethink about the Syrian venture and vote again. Yeah, go on! Why not - just as she has regained a little respectability after being hand-fed and hand-led by a series of governments of all hues - make the mother of all parliaments a joke a par with E.U. constitution referenda on the continent (and across the Irish Sea), which - just to refresh your memory, or embarrass you if you support the twisted project – were ‘allowed’ to be repeated till voters got the answer right.

*I wrote this a few days ago, before Obama stepped in and made a complete muddle of the situation, as usual. Forget Islamic terrorists, the guy is the greatest threat to America at the moment.

Actually, I've just realised: it can be a great opportunity for France to prove her mettle. What if the U.S Congress says 'no' and the Brits fail to do any rethinking? Would the French go ahead on their own? (They can do it Africa after all, and not always for the right reasons.)
