The Promise

In admiration of beautiful woman by Stefan Meyer

On a suicidal, freezing and generally rather unpleasant February morning red light brought an ambulance to a halt. It landed a few yards from me.

I was at a bus stop just across the river (with a huge Orthodox church as a suitable backdrop). There, lo and behold, a slim blonde prophecy was soon to be revealed*.

The driver of the ambulance looked as gray as the morning, even more tired and only slightly less suicidal (but actually - who knows? I'm not a psychologist**).

Then he turned his head and saw a beautiful woman.***

A boost of energy seemed to have gone through his soul (and his body, I bet) and it reached his eyes. The mortal man could now face life; and perhaps even death - he had seen the Promise.

*partly; it was a suicidal, freezing and generally rather unpleasant February morning. Howevere, the crucial part of the message, the face, was clear. The rest, even though hidden from full view, seemed to be chastening and edifying words too.
**actually, come to think of it, I don't even have a psychologist girlfriend.
***whom I'd noticed before and used to reinforce my faith, too.
