Just think (and Merry Christmas!)

Christmas is humankind at its best.

Isn't it incredible how such a seemingly insignificant event of two thousand years ago is still triggering wonderful things all over the world? (And I'm not talking about the economic impact it has; or not only about it, anyway).

Don't we all feel that Christmas is what life is all about? Love, peace, and understanding (I'm not being funny, right?) - plus plenty of good food and even more ill-considered presents - are flooding the planet. (Our joy doesn't make us forget our neighbours who may be alone at home, such as Kevin). And we're loving it and we're enjoying it, together with people we often thought we've drifted apart from for good.

Then, we look up and see an angel flying around the globe and pulling a huge banner that says: „Gloria in altissimis Deo, et in terra pax hominibus bonæ voluntatis”. And we either believe it or so much want to believe it.

So whether you're religious or not, you have to grant it to this infant – no one in the history of this planet has ever brought so much good at the same time out of its people.

This baby, through what it makes us do, gives humankind the biggest Christmas present it has ever received.

And just think: if this is what the tiny boy can do at his birth, what on earth will he be able to do for us some 30 years later, as a grown-up man -
- at his death?

PS But even if you can't be (yet) an Easter Christian, be our guest - and be a Christmas Christian for a moment!
