Without a story, we lose the plot
We think and work in beginnings, middles and ends - because we are a Story species.
For us to understand the Universe, it must fit in a plot. We may not know it yet, but we (whatever you're gonna say now) believe in the plot being there.
And admit it: you picture yourself being a leading character in it (you probably are) and even as we speak, deep down, you're on the edge of your seat, your fingers crossed, your knuckles white, yearning like mad for a happy end to that ultimate yarn.
